Are you sick and tired of the spiritual path?

Today's blog is about a topic that doesn't really get talked about. We are bombarded in the spiritual community with all these different paths and practices to choose from. There is excitement around manifesting, signs, and synchronicities. There is the push to do inner child, mindset, gratitude, and shadow work. We start down this spiritual path because we have awakened and have a thirst for knowledge and healing until we have been on this path for a long while and all the promises that things would be better, don't come like expected. Or we have made big strides but for some reason it doesn't feel the way we thought it might have. There is still hardships, we still feel stuck, and still attracting the same ole thing just in a new package.

What most people who offer you this modern pop spirituality mess don't tell you and they most certainly don't prepare you for is the fact that this is all normal. However, the teachers, coaches, and communities were selling this feel good life that if you just bought a program or kept following your 111 you would come to the end of this rainbow. What secret do these other seemingly successful happy spiritual people know that we don't?

If you have been thinking of giving up on the spiritual path then I want to offer you a grounded and honest look into what the "spiritual path" actually is and means. To also offer you a look at the different stages of the spiritual journey to help you with these very real feelings.

Akashic Records perspective of the Spiritual Path

Any "journey" that we embark on is going to have its ups and downs its twists and turns. The one that does create shifts is when we begin to take radical responsibility for our lives and ourselves. When we become aware of habits or perspectives that are out of date, that start to take different actions. Remembering that we always have a choice. Connecting to our why is one of the most important and crucial steps. For some of you the best way to stay connected to your why is to discover and tell your story. This story will yes evolve over time but it's supposed to.

If you can connect to your "why" this will keep you anchored on your path when things get hard or lonely.

Going even deeper into your "why" is to determine the intention of our journey. We forget this step most of all. But here is a question to help you understand what we mean.

Are you on this spiritual path from a place of self-hate or self love?

We often will say that we are doing this because I am taking care of myself and doing this for myself. But when we do the inner work it's not to pick ourselves a part to find what is wrong with us so that our suffering will end. An intention of self love is, "I desire to know myself and to uncover all there is to know about myself. To meet, heal, or accept all parts of me."

If you find yourself tired of all the inner work, feeling exhausted and wondering just how damaged you must be for there to all this wrong with you. You may need to reassess your intention behind this journey. This can be your first step of radical responsibility.

The different stages of the Spiritual Journey

The whole reason we embark on this journey is to clear energetic stagnation, so we can expand our energy field or light grid so we can express more our authentic selves on this Earth. Imagine if you could live authentically. What would your life look like? This is what the soul wants to experience here on Earth. How can express and connect to our limitless nature within a limited body? This itself pushes the boundaries of our human nature. The spiritual journey is one where we have this beautiful dance between the two. Each stage of the journey offers a different lesson and understanding.

The Wounded Healer:

This stage is early life wounds like trauma, abandonment, loss, powerlessness, or suppression. This can be a hard time in life and its different for everyone. This may be lots of small upheaval type of events, 1 big traumatic event, ongoing family dynamics of chaos and control, or larger traumatic events every few years. According to psychologist Carl Young this is a transformative period where an individual turns pain into wisdom. This is the time when the source of our empathy and insights are formed. We experience the victimization first hand in a deeply personal way. However, there can be different stages even within this phase.

  • The wounding: this is the traumatic event itself. One that may shatter ones sense of self or identity.

  • The Descent: where after the traumatic event one slips into reflection and deals with the "shadow". This may look like a period of grief or spiritual crisis.

  • The transformation: this is where the wound is then transformed into a portal where pain becomes a source of power or it becomes the opposite where it becomes a portal for the shadow (if not transmuted in the descent phase) to then control the healer. The last happens more often than we think especially if we don't have the proper support around us during the descent phase.

  • Return: this is where the person emerges not as a perfect savior but as a compassionate companion who assists others.

The Spiritual Awakening

This is the initial calling or unrest that many of us will experience. This may last years or it will be a ah ha moment of realization. From this point there is a insane thirst for knowledge, there is what some call a dark night of the soul where layers of the ego or shadow will shed away as it's challenged. This is the point where the wisdom gained in the previous phase becomes lived experience. The stages of this phase happen over and over again in a cyclic pattern rather than linear. This depends on how many layers at the time a soul prepared to shed while planning for their Earthly incarnation.

We have the cycle of:

The call/unrest -> The breakdown (shedding of old beliefs)-> Dark night of the soul-> The reflection period -> The sponge/integration (absorbing as much information as possible) -> Transformation (living from a much deeper place)

We repeat this cycle as much as we need to.

The Healing Phase

This is the longest phase and often the one that people either try to rush through or skip. This is marked usually by the point when we choose a path to take for our healing. Whether it be Spirituality, Christianity, traditional therapy, or any number of options. Regardless of how the healing is approached, this involves shadow work & releasing past traumas. The goal here is to achieve more emotional maturity and connection to oneself. It involves moving from an intellectual based understanding to deep embodied feelings allowing suppressed emotions to surface and integrate.

This is where is can get really tiresome and frustrating. As these suppressed emotions come up, depending on what it is and the situation around it, it send us back into the awakening phase. Once we go through the necessary understandings we come back into the healing phase.

This phase too has a cyclic nature to it:

Emotional release/shadow work -> embodied experience -> release of attachments/ego -> Trust and surrender -> Integration

If you find yourself tired of the spiritual journey and you know that you are somewhere here in the healing phase. I want to offer you some tips from the Akashic Records to help you with this:

  1. Slow down: your healing isn't a race to a finish line. Most often we have such a desire to be of service to others and it doesn't require you to be perfectly healed in order to do that. It requires desires, motivation, & structured containers to be of service. If you are trying to hurry through your healing because you are sick and tired of the suffering. This is where you need to revert back to the section above as to WHY you are doing this. Is it from a place of self-hatred or self love? This isn't about picking yourself a part to find whats wrong with you so the suffering will end. This will only perpetuate those feelings of suffering.

  2. The feeling of growing tired of the spiritual path is TOTALLY NORMAL. It's a wonderful thing that you are picking up on this. If you know that you have been doing this from a place of self love and still feel a longing to take a break from spirituality, this is the soul asking you to look at more body or nervous system practices. While mindset work is still needed here too it can become where you focus more on grounding practices, somatic work, yoga, movement, breath work. Practices that get you deeply connected to the body and regulate your nervous system. Pop spirituality really pushes the agenda of needing to have 1 mystical experience after another till you reach the happiness. You have a body for a reason and this is a balance between living in higher chakra energy up in the ether and lower chakra energies. Even a bird needs to land from time to time.

The Service Phase

This is considered the last phase but some people are not so drawn to serving others in professional settings, and that's not what this really refers to. That is only 1 way to be of service. Your embodied wisdom now becomes encoded wisdom here. Being of service can look like writing a book, hosting a podcast, taking 1:1 clients but can also look like sharing your wisdom in moments when your children need to hear it. When a friend is going through something similar and so forth.

In this phase it marks that shift from self-focused awakening to selfless action. Individuals, usually after deep transformation, are driven by compassion to contribute to the greater good of the collective. Now I want to stop here and note. I see this a lot with the work I do with 1:1's. We often will get to a certain point in our journey and we step into servitude, but our healing doesn't stop. We continue personally on this path. Going from wounded healer to awakening to healing again and then when we heal something within ourselves we start to attract those who have are in maybe a phase behind us. This is because in service we are meant to over our wisdom to that person to help them. This is what our spirit guides do. We all have a spirit guide that goes with us into each life. They obviously are past the point of a physical Earthly body but they are just a little more ahead of us and they are here to assist us. Same is true for us and we can express that with each other on Earth.

The phases within this one include:

Shifting focus from self to service -> Inspired Action -> Universal Connection (you realized that helping yourself helps the collective and vice versa) -> Integration into life (integrating spiritual practices into everyday life)

Closing

If you are feeling the shinny wearing off from your spiritual journey just know that means you are doing your part in taking a true grounded approach to your healing journey. However, if you bought into the new age spirituality that is rampant on TikTok and social media it will leave you feeling behind and like you aren't doing it right. This can be further from the truth. Real spirituality is where we balance the spiritual journey with the human experience and honor both. That fed up feeling is your soul shedding the facade of fake spirituality movement that's been commercialized. So allow yourself to honor this and begin to slow down and take a realistic approach to this. Your soul knows there is no need to rush or do this in any other way than what is resonate. The ego is the part of us feels the need to do it "right" and quickly. You have all you need within you to do this and finding community it key also. If you have felt a desire and need for community. You can visit the Lightworker Sister page HERE. Read through it and see if this community is one that speaks to you. If not that's OK there are lots of wonderful support systems out there for you.
